The Archive's Data Migration Project

This summer, the O’Toole Library received a grant from Hudson County to digitize and publish Saint Peter’s University Archive and Special Collections material related to Jersey City history. With this grant money, the archive will be converting some of its collection of VHS tapes, cassettes, reels, and mini DVs to mp3 and mp4 files. These items will then either be posted online or available to watch in the library. This data migration project will ensure that these materials become more accessible to the Saint Peter’s community and that its contents will be preserved for the distant future.

Some items shortlisted for this data migration include:

  • Recordings of Saint Peter’s sporting events
  • President Degnan’s inauguration
  • President Loughran’s inauguration
  • President Cornacchia’s inauguration
  • Faculty Convocations
  • Various Argus Eye productions
  • Cabaret Night and other Glee Club performances
